Amplifiers Electronic devices called personal sound amplification products — or PSAPs — offer many of the benefits of hearing aids at a fraction of the cost. As the name suggests, PSAPs amplify sounds but do not address other components of hearing loss, such as distortion.

Domestic room loop amplifiers
A domestic loop amplifier can make a dramatic improvement to the quality of TV sound for people who use hearing aids.
The preferred method of connection for a loop amplifier is via a TV SCART connection - unlike using many headphones sockets using a SCART connection will not cut off the normal sound for others in the room. Alternatively a microphone may be attached close to the TV or HI-fi speaker.

TTYs
TTYs are text telephones and they are used to assist individuals who have hearing limitations that prevent them from accomplishing essential job tasks. They accomplish this by allowing an individual to use a telephone line to type and receive messages in text. This allows individuals with hearing limitations the ability to communicate with others, even if the other individuals do not have a hearing limitation.a teletypewriter (TTY) or a telecommunications device for the Deaf (TDD) that transmits written text via the telephone line – primarily used by persons who are Deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing, persons who have a speech impairment and by people who wish to phone a Deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing person who uses a TTY.

Voice & Hearing Carry Over (VCO/HCO) Telephones
Voice Carry Over ( VCO ) phones let individuals with a hearing loss continue to use their own voice on the telephone.
VCO phones allow people to speak directly to the person they are calling, and then read that person's response on their display. No more straining to hear the response, or asking people to repeat themselves. Because you can read their words, the meaning comes through loud and clear every time. And the conversation maintains a personal, natural feeling, because people are using their own voice.
VCO calls with a TTY can be made in two different ways, either directly between two callers or with the help of a Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) by dialing 711.
A Hearing Carry Over (HCO) phone uses the TRS relay service and allows a mute or speech impaired person who can hear but not speak to listen directly to the standard telephone user’s conversation and respond by typing their text on the TTY. The TRS relay operator will talk for the person who cannot speak.
