Anybody can access the digital library (NDLI) anytime and anywhere absolutely free of cost and will contribute greatly to the Government’s commitment towards Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat

To attain the true inclusivity of education in keeping with the letter and spirit of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and to fulfill the commitments of the Nation towards open and inclusive education of people with disabilities as stated in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016; this NDLI Disability Portal offers a special vertical for all information and resources regarding disabilities in India and across the world.

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) Project developed by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP), under the aegis of the Ministry of Education (MoE) (erstwhile Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)), Govt. of India.

It is a single window platform providing learning resources that make e-Learning and education accessible to all, bringing to users of all demographics, digital repositories from India and the world.

Initiated as a pilot project in 2015, the NDLI Project was dedicated to the nation by MHRD on 19th June, 2018.


To build NDLI as National Knowledge Asset, a key driving force for education, research, innovation, and knowledge.


  • To create a 24X7-enabled integrated ubiquitous digital knowledge source for the Nation – catering to immersive e-Learning for all learners, at all levels, in all areas.

  • To initiate a movement for Integrated Digital Learning across India.

  • To digitally preserve the rich Cultural Heritage of India


  • To be Open: Open in every sense - open contents, open source software, open technology, open design, and open outlook.

  • To be Inclusive: Inclusive in every sense - for all learners, at all levels, in all areas - to inculcate a true spirit of Inclusive Education
